Updates

The Bohemian Reflections blog still exists here on amyjogarner.org, but I’m also using this site to explore the possibilities of the new WordPress 3.0 multi-blog functionality. In addition, you can still find your way to all of my business and faith-related ventures from the both the menus and the sticky posts above. Happy browsing!

Moving right along

Although I had anticipated that moving everything over to WordPress would take until late in the month, I have foundĀ  it to be a relatively simple process. I have spent some late nights testing out different themes and plug-ins, but that was due mostly to the fact that I didn’t always know what I was doing!

I can officially say that everything has been moved. All the old blogs have been redirected, and all the data has been transferred. I still want to add some pictures to The Virtual Hermitary. And I will be adding products to the Marketplace each day.

If you subscribed in a RSS feed at blogger, you may want to re-subscribe to the new feed!

You found me!

If you’re reading this, then you have found your way to the new home of the Bohemian Reflections blog!

I still have some tinkering to do with the site. You’ll see I’ve not yet posted links to any of my blogrolls. I also am still operating from the old urls for The Virtual Hermitary and The Beauty Geek. Those involve moving two separate hosting accounts over to this one tidy location. It will probably happen in the dark of night so I can minimize site down times and avoid losing any email messages while the transaction takes place.

Let me know what you think of my new WWW digs. Personally, I’m impressed with the quality of templates I was able to snag for each of the sites. I’ve made some slight modifications to most of them so they are more “me”–that’s me from the way back machine in the header! I tried my hand at template generation and, umm, I’m not very good at it. It’s a job best left to creative people who like coding.

Migration

Birds migrate in the fall, and I’m migrating all my blogs and websites over to WordPress and using a single host. It’s a major undertaking. Setting up WordPress is the easy part. The hard parts are choosing designs, setting up structures, selecting content, and pointing the domains in a new direction. It’s not a job to be completed in an afternoon.

I hope it will be worth the effort and will unite my various ventures in a more cohesive environment. In the near future, dear followers, you will find yourself on a main site which will then quickly direct you to my writing (info) site, the beauty (biz) site, my ministry (com) site, and my products (net) site.

Right now I am scattered between different Blogger blogs and Godaddy hosted websites and have considered adding Ning to the mix. Yikes! I decided the best option was to go with Bluehost as a single host. With them I will be able to host all the domains on one account and quickly create WordPress blogs that also function as websites.

When will this all occur? Hmmm… target completion is the end of November. I’ll keep posting here until the migration is complete!

New Year, New Look

I ran across this retro-looking Blogger template and couldn’t resist. Funny how old themes can look new and fresh. For some reason it reminds me of the old TV show “Bewitched.”

Changing templates gave me a chance to review and rebuild my links list and to add some different widgets. I’m still tinkering, so it may change a bit more.
